Toolbench

About Toolbench

A small, independent project building the kind of calculators we kept wishing existed: ones that hand you a finished answer instead of a bare number.

The problem we kept hitting

Search for almost any practical calculation and you get the same thing: a box, a number, and a page full of interruptions. You still have to work out how many tins to buy, how much waste to allow, or what to actually write on the shopping list. The last mile — the part you needed — is left to you.

How we build

Who makes it

Toolbench is built and maintained by one person, not a company. That is a deliberate constraint: it keeps the tools focused and it means there is nobody to pressure us into adding a newsletter pop-up.

How it is paid for

The tools are free. In the future the site may carry advertising to cover hosting and development time. If that happens, ads will be clearly separated from the tools, they will never be disguised as results, and the privacy policy will be updated first. We will not sell your data, because we do not collect any.

Something wrong?

If a tool gives you a result that looks off, we want to know — a wrong formula is a bug and it gets fixed. See the contact page.
